Garden swings & suar wood tables

Other than searching for interesting design ideas, the next most important thing weighing on my mind is the furniture. I believe that placing signature pieces in different parts of the house will bring out the character of the house.

I have been eyeing a traditional 4-seater outdoor garden swing for the longest time. Today, we made a trip down to Ong Kian Hin Ironworks to check it out. The price is $950 before GST and delivery.  I have contacted  Guan Thong Chan in Changi last time. A trip down revealed that the design of the swing is not as good as OKH's, in terms of the overall frame size and the seat length but the price remains attractive at $600. The old uncle and auntie who picked up our call were really nice. We eventually found a satisfactory size and price at KG Engineering, located in AMK.

Next, is Suar wood dining table. We visited Collectif Designs, Herman Furniture, Golden Hope and Wihardja. Eyeing suarwood.sg but they are closed this weekend.

We saw a wooden 2-seater swings in Wihardja and the price was really attractive, at $499 (usual price $699) compared to the one I saw in Tan Boon Liat building which was selling at $1,250! The two swings look quite similar!

I have contacted Greenstar who made the circular galvanised steel swings in CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' but the price has increased considerably, from $2,200 few years ago  to $3,200.

Ceiling Fans @ Tampoi Lighting Centre

We took the plunge! After reviewing the prices of ceiling fans at a local retail store, online portals, i.e. Lazada and Taobao, and blog/forum reviews, we decided to check Tampoi Lighting out. Why Tampoi? We chose it due to its reliability since many Singaporeans purportedly bought their lighting and fans from there.  We headed to JB in the late afternoon. Stopped by D'Shanghai (just outside Sutera Mall) for dim sum at 4p.m. and then Aeon supermarket for diapers. We bought Goon pants at RM27.90 each for L48 and XL42 sizes (U.P. RM34.90).  By the time we reached Tampoi Lighting using GPS, it was 6 p.m.! We spent 2-3 hours checking out the various ceiling fans on display. Lots of "no camera" stickers hung from the ceiling, possibly to deter price/model checking. My earlier online search reviewed information on stores such as HT lighting and Yes lighting, which could sell equivalent fans at a cheaper price but we did not even recce these stores, as we value time and

LAKE LIFE Keys Collection Date!

We collected our keys today! 23rd March 2017! Yeay! Yes, the first batch of residents received their letters from their law firms on 26th January 2017.  We received ours on 8th March, Wednesday.  After the long wait, the excitement has somewhat eased considerably. We arrived at the reading room in our EC (executive condominium) for a quick briefing of what lies within the luxurious, zippered "treasure case".  A bunch of keys of course, a resident's handbook, a folder of layout plans, warranty booklets and advertising brochures by vendors such as Start Young, Tag International, LeGate, True Fitness and Rezt & Relax Interior. Oh, not forgetting, some freebies such as a hand towel & sports wear-on tag. To facilitate our defects check, we had the house cleaned and we also bought 2 temporary light holders and bulbs from a shop nearby.
